DATA BUS SYSTEMS - ADDING TO THE FACTORY HEAD UNIT
So you have a new vehicle with one of the new Data Bus Systems and you are wanting to upgrade the system by adding a new car stereo amplifier and subwoofer. Factory car stereos do not have RCA outputs. Usually a good quality line output converter is all that is needed.
That is, unless you have one of the new Chrysler Can Bus systems or a General Motors Class 2 Data Bus with the Premium BOSE sound system. Then a special plug-and-play line out adaptor will be required. At around $100 bucks or so, these things are not cheap. These units are simple to use and do not involve any cutting or splicing.
Simply plug it between the factory head unit and the factory harness and you're all set. You now have the signal that you need from the factory head unit and also an amplifier remote turn-on wire. Peripheral specializes in this type of car stereo adaptors, the CHYAA for Chrysler vehicles and the GMAA for General Motors.
Peripheral is one of the leading manufacturers of parts like these. Adding one of these to your new vehicle will make adding that new car stereo amplifier and subwoofer system a snap. To see if your new Data Bus vehicle requires this special type of line output converter, check the Data Bus Application guide below or check with your local car stereo specialist.

The GMAA, decodes GM's Class-2 Data-Bus commands and uses them to provide a varying audio output level to an aftermarket amp. Perfect for adding a slammin' sub and sub amp system in GM's popular line of SUVs like the Escalade, H2 and others.
*Plug-n-play install with no factory wire cutting required!
*Compatible with GM's "Premium" BOSE sound systems with fixed audio line level from the radio.
