     So the IPOD craze carried through last year and now this year it's still continuing to grow. "How do I get my IPOD to work through my car stereo?" is a question we hear a lot. IPOD integration is really big and the current Alpine Car Stereo line is a big hit around here. Pioneer has also stepped it up some, but for us, the Alpine car stereos seem to be the better solution so far. All new Alpine car stereos have the full speed Ipod control this year. And the percentage search (where you can easily jump through your song selections) has been a great new feature. Also more and more interfaces are coming out to help you integrate your IPOD into many of the factory installed car stereos.

     Shallow subwoofers are really thin but deliver amazingly powerful bass. Boy oh boy do we have a lot to choose from now. The new Alpine Type "S" and the already famous Rockford Fosgate P3 shallows have really taken off. Incredible bass response from a sub that will actually fit in a shallow box. How's that for great engineering from the car stereo manufacturers. WHAT TOOK YOU GUYS SO LONG? Still we have to say "thanks" to these guys as we have needed this type of car stereo subwoofer for a long, long time (especially here in the central US).

     And a good match for these new subs have been the new "Class D" and other designs of car stereo amplifiers that are incredibly small for their power and performance. The new Punch and Power series from Rockford Fosgate are quite amazing and have been a big performer. You ought to see and hear the power and sound quality that comes out of the Rockford T400-2.

An exteremely small package here with enormous amounts of power and even stable into 2 ohm mono. How's that for a stereo amp? Alpine has done a lot in this market too with the new PDX and the MRP series of car stereo amplifiers. The Alpine PDX 1000.1 is no larger than an average book (no kidding), and delivers upwards of 1100 watts or more at a 2 ohm load. The MRP series amps are a little larger but provide great car stereo power at a much lower price point and are hard to match in that "dollar per watt" category.

     Indash DVD video touch screens are really taking off now that the major car stereo manufacturers are hitting to more affordable price points (under $700). Also with the new double din dash openings of the new GM, DODGE, FORD, and others, we should see more 7" built in DVD screens in the future.

     With the new compression load "slot port" boxes and of course satellite radio from XM and Sirius, the choices to build your new car stereo system are endless.
